Kaduna State Board of Internal Revenue has expressed its determination to raise internally generated revenue of to N1 billion monthly. Alhaji Ahmed Jibrin, Chairman of the Board disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) today in Kaduna. Jibrin said the state revenue profile had risen from N392 million in April to N500 million collected last month, adding that there were many areas yet to be covered.

He said the exercise would enable the state pay workers' salary as at when when due. NAN learnt that more than N1billion is paid as salary to 28,000 workers in the state each month.

``What we are doing is to pay the civil servants within the monthly collections and have some reserve every month. ``This cannot be achieved without blocking leakages identified and ensure that every kobo due to the state is collected and remitted to it," he said. According to the chairman, the state revenue profile showed that N392 million was collected in April, N412 million in May, N433 million in June and N444 in July. The profile showed a fall in August as only N438 million was realised but jumped to over N500 million in Sept.
