Exhibitors optimistic of business fortunes from Jos trade fair

Exhibitors at the on-going Jos domestic trade fair have expressed hope about making financial gains from the event. Some of them, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the third day of the fair, said the scheduled days for the Fair were good for business. They said the last week of every month and first week of a following month were always used by salary earners for shopping. An owner of an electronic equipment shop, Mr. Ricky Harcourt said: "Even in Lagos, we do notice a major boost in sales when workers collect salary''. "And you know that salaries are normally paid either in the last week of the month or first week of the following month," he stated.

Another exhibitor, Malam Dalhatu, who is attending the fair from Kano with female clothing, said the months of October and November were traditionally good for sales. According to him, people who celebrate Christmas usually buy their items in October and November to avoid the December rush when prices go up. "So you will agree with me that this Fair, which started on Oct. 23 and will end on Nov. 2, is a good opportunity for business," he added. Meanwhile, some exhibitors are still arriving the trade Fair ground, Polo field, Jos, as at this afternoon. NAN gathered that about 150 exhibitors had officially registered to participate in the Fair.
