VP urges PDP members to resolve differences through elders

The Vice President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan has called for the setting up of PDP Elders Committees to address and settle individual differences and in-fighting within the party. Jonathan made this call at the closing ceremony of the 10th anniversary of the party held at Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. He called on members of the party, Particularly those at the state level to work toward prompt resolution of
individual differences in order to reposition the party for national change. He also stressed the need for unity, Sincerity and togetherness among all members of the party "if the PDP is to make meaningful impact in governance."

"If PDP as a party which is in control of all levels of government does not do well in governance, the whole system will collapse," he said. He condemned the lack of ability on the part of some members to accept defeat at the primaries and main elections, as well as unpleasant remarks, all of which were capable of pulling down the system. "Unity is the tool for making PDP solid and members are expected to work together and in unity to move the party forward," he said.

Jonathan also enjoined members of the party to strive hard to reposition the party toward contributing to the desired change in the national development. Jonathan expressed the need for the modification of the electoral law to accommodate more women in elective positions. He further solicited for the support and active involvement of members toward building a befitting and well equipped National Secretariat for the party.
