NRC reopens PH-Kano, Lagos-Kano routes
Akpabio
The Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, has reopened its Port-Harcourt-Kano and Lagos-Kano routes which were suspended early this year. In a statement last week, the corporation explained that the routes were reopened following repairs carried out on the washed out and damaged tracks.
In the statement signed by the corporation's Chief Public Relations Officer, Nneka Ubawa, the NRC management said it regretted the inconveniences which train users suffered while the repair work lasted.
“The washed out sections have been reclaimed and the tracks repaired by NRC engineers, paving the way for the restoration of train operations in the southern parts of the country,” he added.

Meanwhile, the second phase of the corporation's mass transit services would be launched in Kaduna on Nov. 20. The event is part of the NRC's success story in partnering with state governments to facilitate the intra-and inter-city mass movement of persons and goods for the economic development of the states. It is also expected to boost the future of rail transport in the country.
